My collection draws on inspiration from the Australian garden, and specifically the Banksia and Eucalyptus, in the Wellington Botanic Gardens and reflects the textures and forms found within the garden. My pattern-work and drawing takes a tactile, mark making approach to capture these natural textures and focuses on the interconnected relationship between the maker, wearer, and environment.
My approach to design encourages the consumer to consider the maker’s influence in the clothing, as well as the environment and resources used to produce the collection. After all, I aim to take inspiration from nature, but not to destroy it.
